Velosi is conducting Electric Power Substation: Maintenance, Grounding & Safety Training
Electrical Power Substations are equipped with a range of equipment, including transformers, switches, and circuit breakers, which serve to regulate the flow of electricity and safeguard the grid from harm. To guarantee a dependable supply of electricity to consumers, it is crucial that substations are properly maintained and operated. Proper installation and regular maintenance of electrical substations are crucial for ensuring a continuous supply of electricity. This is particularly important for industrial consumers, where power outages can result in significant costs. Maintaining electrical substations is an essential part of any electrical maintenance program for substation owners. Unplanned outages are often caused by failures in crucial procedures such as the operation of racking mechanisms, meters, and relays.
Velosi’s Electric Power Substation: Maintenance, Grounding & Safety Training course will set forth maintenance and testing requirements for common substation devices, including power transformers, oil, air and vacuum circuit breakers, ground grid systems, batteries, chargers, switch gears and insulating liquids. The main objective of the course will be the appropriate actions to take, the timing of those actions, and the interpretation of test and maintenance results. All the critical issues will be highlighted for a thorough understanding.
-
By the end of this course, participants will learn to:
- Understand the types, applications, components, and safety procedures of substations.
- Analyze and apply maintenance and testing methods for medium-voltage circuit breakers.
- Adequately perform insulation resistance and contact resistance tests on air, oil, and vacuum breakers, as well as tank loss index tests on oil circuit breakers and vacuum bottle integrity tests on vacuum breakers.
- Thoroughly understand switchgear arrangement, requirements, insulation systems, and maintenance techniques.
- Implement switchgear inspection and maintenance techniques.
- Understand the fundamentals of switchgear operation.
- Investigate earthing systems and their role in the safety and risk assessment.
- Gain practical knowledge of electrical power system safety.
- Understand arc flash hazards and how to mitigate them.
- Identify the components of switchgear, including CTs, VTs, relays, and cable terminations.
- Learn about safe operational policies, including safety rules and safety documents.
- Become familiar with diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
- Perform effective troubleshooting techniques for safety.
-
Training will be conducted via Microsoft Team Meeting. Meeting invites will be shared one day before the first day of training.
Face-to-face training is available as per request.
