This four-day intensive course equips participants with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to plan, conduct, report, and follow up safety audits of health, safety, environmental, and quality (SHEQ) systems. It covers auditor ethics and standards, audit program, design, pre-audit, on-site, and post-audit activities, hazard identification and risk assessment, safety culture evaluation, management system assessment, and corrective action tracking. Participants will engage in lectures, workshops, case studies, and practical exercises to ensure they can apply auditing techniques in real organizational settings.

By the end of this course, participants will learn to:
- Explain the role and responsibilities of a safety auditor, including auditor ethics and standards of conduct.
- Understand key audit principles, methodologies (incl. risk-based auditing), and the audit life-cycle: planning, conducting, reporting, follow-up.
- Assess and evaluate a SHEQ management system (safety, health, environment & quality) against relevant standards and regulatory frameworks.
- Identify hazards, assess risks (job hazard analysis, change analysis, process hazard analysis, etc), and incorporate this into audit findings.
- Conduct on-site inspections and auditing activities: gathering evidence, interviewing, observation, documentation review, and closing meetings.
- Report audit findings: non-conformities, observations, corrective actions; write audit reports and follow up on action plans.
- Evaluate and improve organizational safety culture and management of contractors, emergency planning, and management of change.
- Plan and manage an internal or external audit program: develop checklists, audit plan, schedule audits, monitor competence of auditors and audit teams.

Training will be conducted via Microsoft Team Meeting. Meeting invites will be shared one day before the first day of training.

- Introduction to safety auditing: definitions, types of audits (1st party, 2nd party, 3rd party)
- Auditor ethics, roles & responsibilities
- Regulatory frameworks and standards for SHEQ (including relevant local & international standards)
- Structure of a SHEQ management system (plan-do-check-act cycle)

- Risk-based auditing: hazard identification methods (JHA, change analysis, PHA)
- Review of management system documentation and preparation for on-site audit

- On-site audit activities: opening meeting, gathering evidence, observation, interviewing, document review, audit trails
- Site inspection practical: focus on work-at-height, confined spaces, lifting equipment, fire risk, contractor control
- Communication techniques during audits and audit team interaction

- Reporting and follow-up: writing non-conformity reports, observations, audit findings
- Closing meeting, audit exit, evaluation of action plans
- Managing internal audit programs: auditor competence, scheduling, continual improvement
