Re-RBI Assessment for CPOC Offshore Pipelines- CPOC Offshore Facility Malaysia
Scope
The main objective of this study was to perform RBI detailed assessment and development of an inspection plan for 24” gas gathering pipeline from JKA to the MDPP platform the report presented the objectives of the Re-RBI study, the work scope, the methodology applied, RBI findings through analysis and interpretation of results and finally the recommendations to ensure and maintain the integrity of the subject pipeline. The assessment encompasses a detailed review and analysis of the pipeline’s various designs, operational and environmental aspects, and identification of applicable internal-external damage mechanisms & third-party threats that can pose an integrity threat to the pipeline
Scope of work contains the following activities performed during the Reassessment RBI study:
- Engineering data collection and review that shall include but not limited to inspection & maintenance reports, operation data, design reports, and previous/ current anode design.
- database, drawings, etc.,
- After a gathering of documents, review of collected data like design & operating data, and Inspection reports, etc.,
- Updating Pipeline section divisions in accordance with layout drawings.
- Updating the Mechanical Assessment Sheet.
- Performing defect assessment, using ASME B31 G Standard.
- Performing Condition Assessment
- Risk Assessment based on the 5×5 Risk Matrix, provided by CPOC.
- Development of an Inspection Plan for the pipeline taking into consideration for the calculation of Probability of Failure (POF) from probabilistic metal loss calculations, preliminary analysis of CP protection adequacy & anode depletion assessment.
- Preparation of Re-RBI Comprehensive Report.
Process
A Comprehensive approach is set forth to ensure all essential components integral to the project scope are included.
Outcome
Velosi successfully completed the RBI Re-Assessment for all the proposed eight pipelines. The output was a complete report that included all of the findings and assessments made throughout the studies based on API 580, 581, 571, and so on, and all deliverables were successfully submitted in accordance with industry best practices.
This study offered a clear picture of the pipes’ integrity and recommended a better inspection plan interval based on the company’s needs.
