HSE Studies for Independent Subsea HVDC System Project (Project Lightning)
Scope
The project comprises two sub-sea electricity transmission cables running from onshore power supply stations at Mirfa and Shuweihat to the offshore locations of Al Ghallan Island and Das Island respectively.
Process
The Project involved the supply of power from the Abu Dhabi utility grid network to the Abu Dhabi offshore oil and gas facilities at Das Island and Al Ghallan Island. The power supply will involve two high voltage direct current (HVDC) sub-sea transmission cables to supply power from the Al Mirfa power complex to Al Ghallan Island (known as Route 1) and Shuweihat power complex to Das Island (known as Route 2).
Outcome
The work strictly adhered to specified methods, procedures, specifications, drawings, and other technical requirements and standards. A holistic approach was adopted, ensuring all essential components integral to the project scope were included.
