Dubai Petroleum Establishment (DPE) awarded a contract to Velosi to provide consultancy services for Flare Dispersion and Thermal Radiation Study for Gas Plant in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The Velosi team will evaluate the worst-case flaring scenarios in the flare radiation and dispersion modelling study.

𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠:
• The sterile zone around the flare prevents access to a large area around the flare tower.
• The original basis for defining the boundaries of this sterile zone is historical and unclear – but is likely prescriptive from general operator standards.
• A recent study identified that thermal radiation levels on the ground under the flare did not exceed radiation exposure limits for a majority of flow rates during EDP. This analysis will be conducted using DNV Phast.

Velosi will conduct the Flare Radiation and Dispersion Study for the Gas Plant to assess potential radiation, flammable and toxic gas release impacts with respect to personnel and critical structures. All the modelling will be carried out for the worst peak flow conditions.

Velosi’s expert technical team will conduct the studies by reviewing and compiling input data, clarifying inputs, and preparing a final report with conclusive outcomes.
