This is the leading credentialing program for maintenance and reliability technicians to enhance their knowledge, skills, and abilities. This certification assesses the knowledge and skills of those who are responsible for preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance - multi-skilled individuals who are vital to the success of any organization. CMRT certification will reflect your ability to perform multi-skilled maintenance and reliability tasks independently.

The goal of this course on Maintenance and Reliability Technicians Best Practices is to provide both new and seasoned maintenance technicians with an extensive overview of the knowledge needed to become a Certified Maintenance and Reliability Technician (CMRT). The four practice and knowledge competence domains needed for a CMRT are covered throughout the training.

By successfully completing this course, participants will be able to:
- Perform Maintenance Practices activities related to the safe and effective performance of maintenance activities.
- Carry out Preventive and Predictive Maintenance Best practices in PM, condition monitoring, and lubrication with a special focus on condition monitoring technology capabilities.
- Perform efficient troubleshooting activities related to breakdowns and continuing equipment issues.
- Utilize Corrective Maintenance best practices for performing corrective maintenance activities.
- Restore equipment to full function with special emphasis on precision maintenance and installation practices.

Training will be conducted via Microsoft Team Meeting, online. Meeting invites will be shared on the day before the first day of training.

Application process
All applications should be completed online at the SMRP Online Services Portal.
Examination Details
It consists of 175 multiple-choice questions.
A total of 3 hours shall be given to complete the exam.
The examination is conducted closed book with no reference materials allowed in the examination room (except strict translation dictionaries for candidates whose native language is not English, under conditions applied).
A calculator with arithmetic functions shall be provided. All other personal calculators, computers, or electronic devices are prohibited.
Exam Fees
- SMRP members: $250.00 (USD)
- Sustaining Sponsor employee or U.S. Veteran: $195.00 (USD)
- Nonmembers: $300.00 (USD)
The examination result will reflect only PASS or FAIL. Failing candidates will be given diagnostic certificates, and non-numerical information indicating their overall performance for each subject of the exam.
Certification Validity
The certificate will be valid for three years.
Test Formats
Computer-Based: The CMRT exams are delivered online via computer-based testing at Pearson VUE testing centers. No matter the location, the exam will be presented the same way.
