Services for Corrosion loop Identification/Marking & Corrosion Control Document for station piping (above ground and underground) of WOTS-1, Port Qasim

Scope of Work
Scope of Work
The Project Scope of work required to carry out the Identification of Corrosion loops, and Corrosion Studies includes a Corrosion Control Document, Recommendations for generating identified Degradation Mechanisms defined as per API 571, and Development of Integrity Operating Windows and Inspection Drawings being aligned with the Scope and International Standards i.e., APIs.
Process
A Comprehensive approach was set to ensure all essential components integral to the project scope were included.
- Velosi developed an Asset Register by identifying corrosion loops for each asset using line lists and Engineering Data for Corrosion systems.
- Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Heat and Material Balance sheets (HMB) were utilized to define corrosion loop boundaries and assign Degradation Mechanisms based on agreed criteria.
- PIDs were used to illustrate the demarcation of corrosion loops from the PFDs.
- A Corrosion Loop Description Document was created for each corrosion loop identified on the PFDs.
- Velosi developed a Corrosion Control Document as per API 970 for each corrosion loop, generating recommendations according to API 570/571/581 based on identified Damage Mechanisms for inspection scope, techniques, and mitigation activities.
- Corrosion loops and Degradation Mechanisms were used to identify and develop Integrity Operating Windows (IOW).
- Isometric Drawings were employed to mark Thickness Monitoring Locations (TML) as inspectable points.
- A detailed inspection plan was developed in accordance with asset condition and risk ranking.
Outcome
Velosi’s team of expert individuals successfully developed the required Services for Corrosion loop Identification/Marking & Corrosion Control Document for station piping (above ground and underground) of WOTS-1 as per COMPANY requirements.
This project was completed ahead of schedule, surpassing client expectations through meticulous planning and innovative problem-solving. Our dedicated team delivered high-quality outcomes that not only met the project specifications but also added significant value to the client’s objectives.
Deliverables
Team Velosi developed the following deliverables:
- Asset Register of Corrosion System with all Corrosion Loops with clear identification of every marked circuit.
- Marking of Corrosion Loops on relevant PFD and P&IDs in AutoCAD/PDF.
- Detailed description of each corrosion loop covering including piping/components, service conditions/parameters, active / potential / susceptible damage mechanisms, damage mode, and relevant hotspot areas. Failure modes and assumptions made.
- Recommendations based on identified damage modes shall include external/internal inspection type, damage types to inspect for appropriate inspection scope and methods, relative effectiveness level of each suggested inspection method/technique, interval and other mitigation activities in case inspection is not technically feasible and document activities in line with API-570 / 571 / 580 / 581 and other applicable codes and standards.
- Corrosion Control Document (CCD) was prepared as per API-970 for all identified Corrosion Loops and Damage Mechanisms.
- Updated Isometric Drawings with marking of TMLs (Thickness Monitoring Locations) for future reference.
- Integrity operating windows (IOWs)
- A detailed inspection plan was developed in accordance with asset condition and risk ranking.
