Syed Atif Naseem (Head of Electrical Dept.), in collaboration with authors from NED and NUML, successfully presented a technical paper titled “Energy Auditing: A Mandatory Pathway for EDGE and LEED Green Building Standards” at the 15th International Mechanical Engineering Conference.

The technical paper provided a structured technical framework for conducting energy audits across building systems while aligning audit methodologies with EDGE and LEED credit requirements.

The presentation highlighted how structured energy auditing enables measurable efficiency gains of 15 to 30%, supports EDGE and LEED certification requirements, and contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure), and SDG 13 (Climate Action) by advancing energy efficiency, decarbonization, and sustainable building performance.

It demonstrated energy audits in accordance with ISO 50002-1 and ISO 50002-2. Using the Lallpur Galleria Mall as a primary case study, the team demonstrated the development of a Base Case within EDGE software, followed by an Improved Case featuring optimized design and Solar PV integration.

• Statistical Validation: Utilizing CUSUM (Cumulative Sum) analysis for precise assessment and verification of savings.
