Velosi is conducting training for API 579 – Fitness for Service Course.
API 579 – Fitness-for-Service (FFS) evaluations are quantitative engineering assessments undertaken to demonstrate the structural integrity of in-service pressurized equipment that may have a fault or damage. This standard’s guidelines can be used to make “Run-Repair-Replace” decisions, and if confirmed fit for service, the equipment’s predicted remaining safe life can be calculated.
This course explains and applies the API fitness-for-service standard to help learners understand and implement it in their daily work. The course materials demonstrate how stress analysis, materials engineering, and nondestructive inspection work together to assess fitness-for-service. The processes apply to pressure vessels, pipelines, and tanks that are in use.
This training session is meant to provide rational, step-by-step techniques for assessing the equipment’s current structural integrity, determining its fitness for continued service, and selecting and performing the appropriate corrective action.

By the end of this course, participants will learn to:
- To understand the proper inspection methods and how to evaluate inspection results.
- To gain a better understanding of how pressure vessels and piping degrade and deteriorate in service.
- Learn a step-by-step process for evaluating errors and flaws that arise during the service.
- When component repair is considered necessary based on appropriate inspection, defect evaluation and take action.
- To assess the asset’s remaining life
- Performing repairs without harming the equipment

Training will be conducted via Microsoft Team Meeting, online. Meeting invites will be shared on the day before the first day of training.
