Most work activities can be carried out following standard procedures or direct instructions, but some high-risk activities require extra attention. A permit to work (PTW) is a more formal system documenting the authorization for specific individuals to carry out certain work within a predefined time frame. It ensures that those who are involved in the job fully understand the risks involved and take necessary precautions.

This Velosi Permit to work Awareness/ Understanding Training Course develops a general awareness of different types of PTWs, the need for PTWs, and the proper way of completing PTWs. The training will enable employees undertaking high-risk activities to follow the requirements of a PTW system in their organization and avoid accidents and injuries to themselves and others.

By completing this course, participants will be able to:

• have a basic knowledge of PTW systems,
• know what hazardous work is and when a PTW is required,
• identify the different types of PTWs and other certificates,
• describe the validity and display requirements for PTWs, and
• describe what is involved in suspending, renewing and closing a PTW.

Training will be conducted via Microsoft Team Meeting, online. Meeting invites will be shared on the day before the first day of training.

Upon successful completion of training, participants will receive a “Permit to work Awareness/ Understanding Course Completion” certificate.

This course is designed for all personnel who are involved in a Permit to Work system for high-risk work such as in confined spaces, work at height, or hot work.

The course is ideal for those responsible for creating, issuing, and signing off PTWs, as well as those who will undertake the work covered by a permit and their supervisors.
