The Fire & Gas (F&G) Mapping study, which is becoming increasingly popular among oil and gas facilities, uses a modelling software to locate fire and gas detection devices within a facility and assess the coverage of the system. When done properly in conjunction with related assessments, the study can provide valuable insights of the installed hazard protection, which helps to determine the optimum layout of F&G detectors within a facility and ultimately contribute to improved safety and optimized costs for F&G devices.

Building on our extensive experience in conducting F&G mapping studies for various clients in the oil and gas sector, Velosi developed this Fire & Gas Mapping Training course to outline the methodology of a Fire & Gas Mapping study and equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to conduct F&G mapping using a specialized software. Throughout the course, participants are given access to this software so that they can complete a practical exercise of a simulated F&G mapping study.

By completing this course, participants will be able to:

• determine fire and gas release scenarios,
• grade areas and identify zone extents in case fire is detected,
• use a 3D environment for detector & coverage calculations,
• consider obstructions in a 3D environment, and
• generate outputs including area grading and detector coverage maps.

Training will be conducted via Microsoft Team Meeting, online. Meeting invites will be shared on the day before the first day of training.
