Plant Condition-Monitoring is a scheduled task used to detect the potential onset of a failure so that action can be taken to prevent such failure. A potential failure is an identifiable condition that indicates that a functional failure is either about to occur or is in the process of occurring. Integration of condition monitoring is crucial to developing a robust, Condition-based maintenance strategy or predictive maintenance approach for machinery and equipment used in industrial applications. Condition monitoring starts with using permanently installed sensors or handheld equipment to collect data which is then used to analyze changes in the performance or condition of a machine component while it is in operation.
